Privacy Policy — TextBoost AI

Chrome extension: TextBoost AI (version 2.0.0 and later)

Effective date: 6 September 2026 · Last updated: 6 September 2026

Summary: TextBoost AI has no accounts, no servers of ours, and no analytics. The developer does not collect, receive, store, sell, or transfer any of your data. Your settings and your API key stay on your own device. When you run an action, the text you selected is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you configured — and nowhere else.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the TextBoost AI browser extension for Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, published on the Chrome Web Store. It does not cover the websites you visit while using the extension, nor the third-party AI providers you choose to connect it to (see section 4).

2. Data the developer collects

None. TextBoost AI operates entirely inside your browser. It has no backend server, no account system, no sign-up, no login, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising or tracking code of any kind. The developer never receives, sees, proxies, logs, or stores your text, your API keys, your browsing activity, or any personal information.

Because no data is collected, no data is sold, rented, or transferred to third parties, none is used or transferred for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single stated function, and none is used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

3. Data the extension handles on your device

The extension processes the following locally, in your own browser, using the Chrome storage.local area:

WhatWhyWhere it is kept
Your AI provider API key Required to authenticate your requests to the provider you selected Local extension storage on your device only. It is deliberately not written to Chrome Sync, so it is never uploaded to Google's servers or shared across your devices.
Your settings — chosen provider, model, creativity/temperature, default tone, and any custom actions you create To remember your preferences between sessions Local extension storage on your device only.
The text you highlight when you run an action It is the input to the action you asked for Held in memory only for the duration of the request, then discarded. It is not written to disk, not kept in any history, and not sent anywhere except the provider you configured.

Uninstalling the extension removes this local data from your browser.

4. Third-party AI providers

TextBoost AI is a "bring your own key" tool. When you trigger an action, your browser makes a request directly to the provider you configured, containing the text you selected and the instruction for the chosen action. Nothing is routed through the developer's infrastructure, because there is none.

The possible destinations — and only the one you have configured and granted permission to — are:

Once your text reaches a provider, that provider's own privacy policy and data-retention terms govern what happens to it. Please read the policy of whichever provider you choose. Network access is requested as an optional permission, granted per provider, and only for the one you actually use.

You should not select and send text that you are not permitted to share with your chosen AI provider — for example confidential, regulated, or otherwise sensitive information.

5. Permissions and why they are needed

PermissionPurpose
contextMenusTo add the TextBoost AI entries to the right-click menu.
activeTabTo access the text you selected on the current tab, only at the moment you invoke an action. The extension does not read or monitor pages in the background.
scriptingTo insert the result back into the editable field you were typing in, and to show the progress and undo toast.
storageTo save your settings and API key locally on your device.
Optional host permissions for the four provider API endpoints listed aboveTo send your request to the provider you selected. Granted only for the provider you actually use.

The extension has no permission to access, and does not access, your browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, cookies, passwords, location, camera, microphone, or files.

6. Children

TextBoost AI is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no data from anyone, including children.

7. Security

Your API key is stored in the browser's local extension storage, which is accessible only to this extension within your browser profile. All requests to providers are made over HTTPS. Because the key is a credential, treat your browser profile and device as you would any account: keep them protected, and revoke the key from your provider's dashboard if you believe it has been exposed.

8. Your choices

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "last updated" date. Material changes affecting how data is handled will also be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
